Audio editing is the process of replacing sounds (kicks, snares, hi-hats, synths etc.) and manipulating audio to alter length, speed, and volume or to create additional versions such as loops.

In music, a radio edit or radio mix is a modification, typically truncated, intended to make a song more suitable for airplay, whether it be adjusted for length, profanity, subject matter, instrumentation, or form. Radio edits may also be used for commercial single versions.

Mastering is the final stage of audio production—the process of putting the finishing touches on a song by enhancing the overall sound, creating consistency across the album, and preparing it for distribution.

Mastering music for streaming is the process of preparing a song or project for distribution on a digital streaming platform. When doing so, the process is similar to a typical mastering session, but the song’s LUFS and the intended platform’s loudness normalization process need to be kept in mind.
